Hong Kong Miu-Kai Restaurant (香港庙街餐厅小厨)

It’s been quite a while since we went to this restaurant. Since it was quite near to my place, we just went over to have dinner.

There’re quite a lot of eateries around this area, there is a restaurant serving Middle Eastern food located on the same row as Miu Kai Restaurant, we were thinking of visiting that restaurant next time!

The interior of this restaurant is quite similar to other Hong Kong styled restaurant such as Kim Gary and Wong Kok Char Chan Teng. It was quite spacious and comfortable.

We had a warm Chinese tea (中国茶) for RM1 and an iced Milo red bean (美禄红豆冰) for RM4.20. The iced Milo red bean was one of the recommended drinks. It was our first time trying out something this, it was actually a Milo drink with some red beans inside, quite unusual but acceptable.

The black pepper chicken rice (黑椒鸡扒烩饭) tasted quite good. The black pepper taste was quite mild but yet it was very aromatic. For RM10.80, the serving was quite large, we think it was quite worth it.

We also ordered a dry Sze Chuan noodle (四川酸辣面) for RM6.80. This is something that I would usually order when I dine there. However, it tasted quite different this time. The noodles were good but the sauce was slightly too sweet and it was not that spicy the other day.

We wanted to order their crispy egg tart (贵妃酥皮蛋挞) but it was sold out when we ordered it at about 9pm. So we changed our mind and had a Hong Kong style “po lo bao” (奶皇菠萝包). Priced at RM1.60, this pineapple bun was extremely tasty. The outer layer was crispy and the inside was so soft and fluffy. We highly recommend you to try this out. This po lo bao could be the sole reason for our revisit to this restaurant.

They actually offer a wide range of food, drinks, snacks and desserts. The price was quite reasonable especially the drinks. Service was quite average. Check out more information from their website here. Remember to check out their po lo bao and egg tart if you happen to visit this restaurant!

I'm thinking whether iced Milo green bean will taste better than red bean.
